Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 18

Ukrainian military continues defensive operations in the east and south of Ukraine and is advancing in the direction of Melitopol and Bakhmut. Over the past day, there have been more than 35 combat clashes, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
During the past day, the enemy launched another attack on Ukraine using cruise missiles and UAVs Shahed-136/131. As a result of the combat actions by air defense units, 6 cruise missiles and 6 Shaheds were destroyed.
Unfortunately, due to these terrorist actions by the Kremlin, there are casualties among the civilian population, residential buildings have been destroyed, and civilian infrastructure has been damaged.
In addition, since the beginning of the current day, Russian occupiers have conducted massive missile and aviation strikes using cruise missiles and UAVs on the civilian infrastructure of the Odesa region. Information about the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
The enemy launched 15 missile strikes and more than 70 aviation strikes, as well as carried out 47 artillery shelling attacks with multiple rocket launch systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Aerial strikes were carried out on the settlements Hirky, Pavlivka, and Popivka in the Sumy region; Nadiya in the Luhansk region; Terny, Torske, Siversk, Vesele, Andriivka, New York, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Staramaiorske in the Donetsk region; Verbove, Robotyne, Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region; Odradokamianka and Mykolaivka in the Kherson region.
Approximately 80 populated areas in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group in the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy continues to maintain troop concentrations to cover the state border. They are conducting active sabotage activities in border areas to prevent the transfer of our troops to threatened directions and are increasing the density of mines and explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area of Bila Hora, Donetsk region. The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through our troops' defense in the area of Andriivka, Donetsk region.
Ukrainian defense forces continue offensive actions in the area of Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, causing significant losses to the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions on achieved lines.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group in the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Maryinka, Donetsk region. In the past day, the enemy made 10 unsuccessful attempts to dislodge our units from their positions.
Meanwhile, in the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, Ukrainian defense forces maintain the initiative, pressuring the enemy, conducting assault operations, and reclaiming our land.
In the Melitopol direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation, inflicting significant losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, forcing the enemy to retreat from their positions.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, our soldiers are engaged in counter-battery combat, destroying supply depots and delivering successful strikes on the enemy's rear.
Ukrainian offensive
Ukrainian defense forces continue defensive operations in the east and south of Ukraine, offensive operations in the Melitopol direction, and offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction, destroying the enemy and gradually liberating temporarily occupied territories, consolidating their positions on achieved lines.
Enemy losses
During the day, the aviation of the defense forces carried out 9 strikes on personnel, weapons, and military equipment concentrations of the enemy.
Units of missile forces struck 2 personnel, weapons, and military equipment concentration areas of the enemy, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, 11 artillery pieces, 3 ammunition depots, and the enemy's electronic warfare station.
