Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 25

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled more than 60 attacks by Russian troops along the entire front on December 25. Key successes in critical areas continue to slow Russia’s advance and deplete its combat potential, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of 4:00 p.m. on December 25, 2025, 61 combat engagements were recorded. The enemy remains active across the front.
Chernihiv region: artillery shelling of Khrinivka, Kliusy, Yasna Poliana.
Sumy region: shelling of Ulanove, Ryzhivka, Malushyne, Simeikine, Bila Bereza, Sukhodil, Hirky, Iskryskivshchyna, Brusky, Volfyne, Yastrubshchyna.
Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions: 1 airstrike, 49 shellings of Ukrainian positions, including one from a multiple launch rocket system.
Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction: 5 attacks near Vovchansk and Dvorichanske.
Kupiansk direction: ongoing combat near Hlushkivka.
Lyman direction: 8 attacks repelled in Novoselivka, Stavky, Novoserhiyivka, Ozerne, and Zarichne; 4 engagements ongoing.
Sloviansk direction: 3 attacks near Siversk and Serebrianka, 1 engagement ongoing.
Kramatorsk direction: no engagements recorded.
Kostiantynivka direction: 10 enemy offensive actions, 1 attack ongoing.
Pokrovsk direction: 18 attempts by the enemy to advance on Ukrainian positions, 1 engagement ongoing.
Oleksandrivka direction: 9 attacks on Pryvilne, Rybne, Krasnohirsk, Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, and toward Iskra.
Huliaipole direction: 4 attacks repelled, 2 engagements ongoing; airstrikes on Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Ternuvate, and Bilohiria.
Orikhiv direction: enemy attack toward Pavlivka.
Prydniprovskyi direction: 2 attacks repelled; airstrike on Novotiahynka.
Ukrainian troops continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy and deplete its resources along the entire front and in the rear.
Russian losses in the war in Ukraine
On the Kursk direction, border guards of the Stalevyi kordon (Steel Border) brigade carried out precise strikes on enemy forces. This halted the opponent’s offensive actions and strengthened the region’s defense
In the Kharkiv region, border guards of the 4th reconnaissance and strike UAV detachment Striks thwarted an attempt by Russian forces to cross the Lozova River.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' aviation also carried out a series of strikes on positions of Russian drone operators in the Donetsk region, particularly near Siversk and Pokrovsk.
According to military reports, the Ukrainian Air Force struck a building near Siversk from which enemy UAV operators were operating.
Additionally, as of December 24, Russian losses since the start of the full-scale invasion have exceeded 1.2 million personnel.
