Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 5

Over the past day, December 4, 167 combat clashes were recorded on the front line. Russians continue to actively storm the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russia carried out 61 air strikes, dropped 173 guided bombs, carried out 6,664 shellings, including 153 from multiple launch rocket systems, and launched 4,480 kamikaze drones.
Russia carried out air strikes, in particular, on the areas of the settlements of Shalyhine in the Sumy region; Ternuvate, Huliaipole, Staroukrainka, Stepnohirsk, Hryhorivka, and Veselianka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two areas where personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as 3 Russian artillery systems.
Frontlines
On the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russia carried out two air strikes, dropping a total of five guided bombs, and carried out 175 shellings, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 4 Russian attacks in the areas of Izbitske, Prylipka, and Synelnykove.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russia attacked twice yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russia's assault near the village of Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, Russia attacked 9 times, trying to break through Ukraine's defenses near the settlements of Hrekivka, Drobysheve, Zarichne, and Oleksandrivka.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13 Russian attacks near Yampil, Dronivka, Serebrianka, Fedorivka, and Siversk.
In the Kramatorsk direction, there was one combat engagement in the area of the settlement of Chasiv Yar.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russia carried out 16 attacks in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Kostiantynivka, Mykolaipillia, Torske, and in the direction of Berestok and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 52 Russian assaults in the areas of Shakhove, Nove Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Vilne, Novoeekonomichne, Dorozhne, Shevchenko, Rodynske, Novopavlivka, Pokrovsk, Svitle, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, and Dachne.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russia carried out 19 attacks yesterday in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Oleksandrohrad, Sosnivka, Stepove, Verbove, Pryvilne, Vyshneve, Pavlivka, Krasnohirsk, and Rybne.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 Russian attacks in the areas of Zatyshshia, Huliaipole, and towards Pryluky.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russians made one attempt to break through Ukraine's defense in the Prymorske area.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully stopped a Russian attack on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the direction of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to Ukraine's General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,178,610 military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In particular, Russian losses over the past day amounted to 1,240 troops.
Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed a Russian armored combat vehicle, 34 artillery systems, 2 multiple launch rocket systems, an aircraft, 424 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 94 vehicles, and two units of Russian special equipment.
