Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 24

As of October 24 morning, the situation on the front remains tense. Over the past day, more than 100 combat engagements took place, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Ukrainian defenders are steadfastly holding back the enemy's advance, inflicting significant losses on the opposing forces," the General Staff noted.
According to the military, 120 combat engagements were recorded over the past day.
According to updated information, yesterday the enemy carried out 90 air strikes and dropped 184 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it conducted 4,987 shelling attacks, including 152 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 6,688 kamikaze drones for strikes.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes, in particular, on the settlements of Danylivka, Novouspenivska, Solodke, Huliaipole, Richne, and Hryhorivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Meanwhile, over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck three enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment concentrations, as well as an artillery system, a command-observation post, and an enemy command center.
Situation on the front
In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out three airstrikes over the past day, using eight guided aerial bombs, and conducted 210 shelling attacks, six of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted 11 times to break through our defenders' lines in the areas of Vovchansk, Kamianka, and Bolohivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, four enemy attacks took place yesterday. Our defenders repelled enemy assault actions in the areas of Kupiansk, Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, and Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched nine attacks to penetrate our defenses in Nadiia, Novoselivka, Zarichne, and Shandryholove.
In the Sloviansk direction, during the past day, our defenders stopped 14 enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Yampol, Serebrianka, Siversk, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions over the past day.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy launched 12 attacks near Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Katerynivka, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders repelled 39 enemy assault actions near the settlements of Nykanorivka, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoukrainka, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Kotlyne, Novopavlivka, and Dachne.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy carried out 14 attacks over the past day in the areas of the settlements of Filiia, Sosnivka, Novoyehorivka, Orestopil, Pavlivka, Kalynivske, and in the direction of Pryvillia.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions during the past day.
In the Orikhiv direction, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Stepove, Stepnohirsk, and Plavni.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy assaults in the direction of the Antonivka Road Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formation were detected.
"Our warriors are inflicting significant losses on the enemy forces in manpower and equipment, actively undermining the adversary's offensive potential in the rear," the General Staff added.
Russian losses
From February 24, 2022, to October 24, 2025, the total estimated losses of Russian troops amounted to approximately 1,135,080 military personnel. In total, over the past day alone, Russian forces lost 910 personnel.
In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed one tank, five armored combat vehicles, 34 artillery systems, one multiple launch rocket system, 440 uncrewed aerial vehicles, and 128 units of enemy automotive equipment.
