As of 4:00 p.m. Kyiv time on October 19, there were 76 combat engagements on the front. The Pokrovsk direction was the hottest sector, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 20 Russian attacks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

Russian shelling

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, communities in border settlements were hit by Russian artillery, including Stara Huta, Bobylivka, and Novovasylivka in the Sumy region.

Frontline situation

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, 12 combat engagements occurred since the start of the day. The Russian army also carried out two airstrikes, dropping six guided bombs, and conducted 75 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including one from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks near Vovchansk, Tykhe, and in the direction of Dvorichanske and Bolohivka. Two engagements are still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted once to break through Ukrainian defenses near Pishchane.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched one attack near Drobysheve, and the battle is ongoing.

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one attack. The enemy was active near Serebrianka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions were reported.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Russian army carried out 15 assault actions near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Pleshchiivka, and Rusyn Yar, with four engagements still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 26 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from positions near Shakhove, Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Filiia, and in the direction of Novopavlivka. Ukrainian forces held their ground and repelled 20 attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy tried to break through Ukrainian defenses near Andriivka-Klevtsove, Voskresenka, Sichneve, Vorone, Sosnivka, and Novohryhorivka. Ukrainian forces repelled seven assaults, with one engagement still ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful attack near Malynivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russians attacked once near Plavni, and the battle is ongoing.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried three times to approach Ukrainian positions near the Antonivskyi Bridge.

In other directions, there were no significant changes.

Russian army losses

From October 18 to 19, Russian forces lost another 1,000 soldiers on the front. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 45 artillery systems, 126 vehicles, and 444 drones.

According to The Economist, Russia lost at least 100,000 soldiers during its spring 2025 offensive against Ukraine, while capturing only 0.4% of Ukrainian territory.
