Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 5

Since the beginning of August 5, there have been 61 combat engagements at the front. The Pokrovsk direction remains the epicenter of the fighting, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, seven clashes have occurred since the start of the day, two of which are ongoing. Additionally, the enemy carried out 11 airstrikes, dropping 22 guided bombs, and conducted 131 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, including 13 using multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks. The enemy is attempting to advance near Vovchansk and Fiholivka. In the Kupiansk direction, Russian occupiers twice tried to break through our defenses near Stepova Novoselivka and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Olhivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Torske, Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, and toward Cherneshchyna, Serednie, and Shandryholove. Four clashes are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted seven assault actions in the areas of Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Shcherbynivka. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 24 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from held positions in the areas of Popiv Yar, Volodymyrivka, Boikivka, Suvorove, Novoeconomichne, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Rodynske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoukrainka, Oleksiivka, and toward Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces held firm and repelled 20 attacks; four clashes are ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy tried to breach the defense of the Ukrainian army near Piddubne, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, Temyrivka, and toward Ivanivka. The Defense Forces repelled two attacks; three are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, enemy units attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops twice toward Prymorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian aviation struck near Olhivka.
In the Siversk, Kramatorsk, Huliaipole, and Prydniprovskyi directions, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
Russia’s losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,058,260 military personnel.
In particular, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army lost 1,120 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 2 tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, 28 artillery systems, 169 drones, and other enemy equipment yesterday.
