Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 17

There were 78 combat engagements in the frontline since the beginning of the day on June 17, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, 13 clashes have occurred since midnight, five of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out five airstrikes, dropping eight guided bombs, and shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 132 times, including two attacks using multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukraine's forces repelled an enemy assault near the village of Dovhenke.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses near the village of Stepova Novoselivka.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched seven assaults on Ukrainian positions near Lypove and in the direction of Olhivka, Shandryholove, and the Serebrianskyi Forest. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces are repelling an enemy attack toward Serebrianka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy attacks near Kurdiumivka and in the direction of Predtechyne and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops launched five assaults toward Shcherbynivka and Yablunivka. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army attempted 29 times to push Ukrainian forces from their positions near the settlements of Poltavka, Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Udachne, Orikhove, Novopavlivka, and Oleksiivka. Ukrainian defense forces are holding their ground, having repelled 28 attacks so far, with one battle still underway. The areas of Koptieve and Razine were hit by air strikes.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Odradne, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr, and toward Zaporizhzhia, Myrne, and Shevchenko. Defense forces successfully repelled 10 enemy assaults, with two attacks still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders are repelling an enemy attack near Malynivka. Airstrikes hit the areas of Uspenivka, Malynivka, and Poltavka.
In the Orikhiv direction, no combat engagements were recorded.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian troops repelled an enemy attack near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost approximately 1,006,120 soldiers.
In particular, over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,060 soldiers. Also yesterday, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 1 tank, 3 armored combat vehicles, 20 artillery systems, 177 drones, and other enemy equipment.
