Russia's losses in Ukraine as of June 17: 1,060 troops and 177 drones

Over the past day, from June 16 to 17, Russian troops suffered another 1,060 personnel losses on the front line. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 20 artillery systems and one multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS), the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
The total combat losses of the enemy from February 24, 2022, to June 17, 2025, are approximately as follows:
- personnel - about 1,006,120 (+1,060) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 10,940 (+1);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 22,814 (+3);
- artillery systems - 29,228 (+20);
- MLRS - 1,419 (+1);
- anti-aircraft systems - 1,187l;
- aircraft - 416;
- helicopters - 337;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 40,981 (+177);
- cruise missiles - 3,346;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 52,175 (+79);
- special equipment - 3,916 (+1).
Situation on front
On the evening of June 16, the General Staff reported that the hottest areas on the front are Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Toretsk.
These sectors saw the highest number of combat engagements with the enemy. In total, 136 clashes were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) explained why Russian forces have begun to use Soviet-era tanks less frequently. The enemy is increasingly favoring motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. According to expert forecasts, Russia's stockpile of tanks and armored vehicles is expected to run out by the end of 2025.
