Russian ceasefires

Despite Ukraine's support of the US proposal for a 30-day comprehensive ceasefire in the war with Russia, Moscow did not give its consent. Instead, the Kremlin began to put forward various conditions. Moreover, the Russian side initiated several so-called ceasefires, which it never adhered to.

In particular, on Easter, Ukrainian defenders recorded attacks by the Russian forces at the front, and in some areas, Russians carried out regroupings during the so-called silence regime.

Already on April 28, Vladimir Putin announced a temporary ceasefire from May 8 to 11, supposedly for humanitarian reasons, to hold the large parade on May 9 in Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the country is ready to cease fire "even from today" if Russia is ready to take reciprocal steps. Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, but for 30 days, not three.

Additionally, on May 7, the spokesperson of the Joint Forces Operation Khortytsia, Victor Trehubov, noted that Ukrainian defenders do not believe in a ceasefire on May 9, as announced by Vladimir Putin. The Defense Forces of Ukraine reminded that during the so-called Easter ceasefire there were practically no changes on the front.

As pointed out in a comment to the YouTube channel of RBC-Ukraine by the spokesperson of the Operational Command South, Vladyslav Voloshyn, despite statements by Russian politicians about a supposed energy ceasefire, the Russian army daily attacks energy facilities in southern Ukraine, in particular substations, power stations, and hospitals.

At midnight on May 8, Russia announced the beginning of the so-called three-day ceasefire with Ukraine, previously announced by Putin. Although Ukraine has not agreed to it, official Kyiv has repeatedly stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will act symmetrically.
