Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 17

Over the last day, 112 combat engagements took place along the entire frontline. Russia stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv sector 5 times, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day, the Russians launched one missile and 2,534 kamikaze drones, 81 airstrikes on Ukraine, dropped 135 guided bombs, 2,534 kamikaze drones, and fired 5,794 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
Russia carried out air strikes, in particular in the areas of populated areas:
- Udy, Kharkiv region;
- Novopavlivka, Pokrovsk, Shevchenko, Novopil in Donetsk region;
- Novodarivka, Huliaipole, Komyshuvakha, Slavne, Zhovta Krucha in Zaporizhzhia region;
- Olhivka, Tokarivka, Mykolayivka, Shlyakhove, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Chervonyi Maiak in Kherson region.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Russia stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops 5 times in the areas of Vovchansk, Kamianka, and towards Kutkivka.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russia struck 11 times over the last day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian assaults near Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka, Lozova, Zahryzove, and in the direction of Kupiansk and Holubivka.
Russia attacked the Lyman sector 10 times. It tried to advance near the settlements of Novoiehorivka, and Zelena Dolyna, and towards Hryhorivka, Novomykhailivka, and Nove.
In the Siversk sector, near the settlements of Bilohorivka and Ivano-Dariivka, Russia attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 3 times.
3 combat clashes were registered in the Kramatorsk sector near Chasiv Yar and the direction of Predtechyno.
In the Toretsk sector, Russians carried out 14 attacks in the vicinity of Toretsk and Druzhba.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 21 Russian assaults and offensive actions in the areas of Sukha Balka, Zvirove, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Kotlyne, Novooleksandrivka, Novoserhiivka, Uspenivka, Yasenove, Andriivka.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Russia attacked Ukrainian positions 10 times near Kostiantynopil, Skudne, and in the direction of Shevchenko.
In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 Russian attacks near Pryvilne, Vilne Pole, and the direction of Novopil.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 Russian attacks in the directions of Stepove, Mali Shcherbaki, and in the area of Zherebianka.
Russia did not conduct any offensive actions in the Prydniprovskyi sector.
In the Kursk sector, 14 combat engagements took place yesterday. Russia carried out 11 air strikes, dropped 18 guided bombs, and made 289 artillery attacks, including 12 from multiple launch rocket systems.
No signs of Russian offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.
Russian losses
Ukrainian soldiers inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupation forces and actively undermine Russia's offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past day, the missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit 6 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as one Russian artillery unit.
The total Russian losses amounted to 1,210 troops over the last day. Ukrainian defenders also neutralized 19 Russian tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles, 37 artillery systems, an MLRS, 54 operational and tactical drones, 101 vehicles, and Russian special equipment.
