In the past 24 hours, from March 16 to 17, Russian forces have lost 1,210 soldiers, a multiple launch rocket system, and over 100 unmanned aerial vehicles in the war against Ukraine, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to March 17, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 895,450 (+1,200) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 10,344 (+19);
  • troop-carrying AFVs - 21 489 (+11);
  • artillery systems - 24,598 (+37);
  • MLRS - 1,318 (+1);
  • air defense systems - 1,104;
  • aircraft - 370;
  • helicopters - 331;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 29,467 (+54);
  • cruise missiles - 3,121;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and tanks - 40,785 (+101);
  • special equipment - 3,778 (+1).

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian Defense Forces have made gains near the village of Borova in the Kharkiv region. Meanwhile, Russian occupiers have advanced in the Donetsk and Sumy regions.

According to partisan sources, Russian troops are deliberately damaging their equipment to avoid participating in offensive operations toward Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Last night, Russia once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones.

Around 1 a.m. Kyiv time, explosions were heard in Kyiv due to the operation of air defense forces.

Explosions were also heard multiple times in Kropyvnytskyi.
