Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 9

Since the beginning of the day, nearly a hundred clashes have been recorded along the frontline. Ukrainian defenders are holding the line and exhausting the enemy, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of 4:00 PM on March 9 (Kyiv time), the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published updated operational information regarding the current situation on the frontline.
"Since the beginning of the day, 95 clashes have occurred on the frontline. Our defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the line, and disrupting the Russians' plans," military officials said.
According to their data, border areas of Ukrainian settlements were affected by Russian artillery shelling, including Ulanove, Turiya, and Vilne in the Sumy region and Karpovychi, Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi, and Bleshnya in the Chernihiv region.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy assaults near Vovchansk. Additionally, the enemy launched airstrikes with guided bombs on the areas of Borova and Kozacha Lopan.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance toward Ukrainian positions three times throughout the day near Lozova, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman direction, Russians also increased the number of attacks to nine. Attacks were launched near the settlements of Balka Zhuravka, Novoliubivka, Myrnyi, Ivanivka, and Yampolivka. Eleven battles are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy has intensified their activity, carrying out 18 attacks today, seven of which Ukrainian forces have already repelled. Russian forces are attempting to advance in Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, and towards Serebrianka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders are repelling an enemy assault, and three clashes have already concluded. The enemy is conducting active operations near Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, and in the direction of Stupochky and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attempted to advance 13 times in Toretsk, Druzhba, and Dachne. Six clashes are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy initiated 20 clashes of varying intensity. Our defenders repelled 17 enemy attacks in Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Preobrazhenka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Three clashes are still ongoing. Enemy aviation struck Pokrovsk, Nadiivka, Odradne, and Zvirove.
In the Novopavlivka direction, one attack was repelled by Ukrainian defenders near Skudne.
In the Huliaipole direction, two clashes have concluded near Novopil and Pryvilne, while four more attacks by Russians are ongoing. The settlements of Huliaipole and Shevchenko were hit by airstrikes using guided bombs and unguided rockets.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy advanced three times near Stepove and Shcherbaky, with one ongoing battle. Novoandriivka was hit by NARs.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy did not conduct active offensive operations.
In Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks by Russians, and six clashes are still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy carried out 12 airstrikes, dropped 13 guided bombs, and launched 257 artillery shellings, including ten from multiple launch rocket systems.
"On the remaining directions, no significant changes in the situation have occurred. Ukrainian forces are exhausting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear," the General Staff reported.
Enemy's losses in Ukraine
It is worth noting that, in total, Russian losses yesterday amounted to 1,180 military personnel.
Ukrainian forces also destroyed six tanks, 14 armored fighting vehicles, 58 artillery systems, three multiple rocket launchers, two air defense systems, 190 UAVs of operational-tactical level, 142 vehicles, and one unit of special equipment of Russians.
