Russia's losses in Ukraine as of March 9: +1,200 troops and 6 tanks

Over the past day, from March 8 to 9, Russian forces lost 1,180 soldiers and three multiple rocket launch systems in the war against Ukraine. The daily loss of enemy equipment amounts to 226 units, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to March 9, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 885,130 (+1,280) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks – 10,274 (+6);
- troop-carrying AFVs – 21,360 (+14);
- artillery systems – 24,206 (+58);
- MLRS – 1,310 (+3);
- air defense systems – 1,101 (+2);
- aircraft - 370;
- helicopters - 331;
- UAV operational-tactical level – 28,326 (+180);
- cruise missiles - 3,120 (+35);
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks – 39,933 (+142);
- special equipment - 3,773 (1).
Situation on the front lines and Russian shelling
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian defense forces have made gains in two areas of Donetsk region.
Overnight, Russian forces once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones.
In Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, enemy UAVs damaged critical infrastructure, prompting warnings of possible gas and heating supply restrictions for residents.
Additionally, Russian forces shelled the frontline town of Druzhkivka in Donetsk region, damaging residential buildings and injuring many local residents.
