As of 10 p.m., February 8, 125 battles took place at the frontline over the last day. Almost half of them took place in the Pokrovsk sector alone, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russian shelling and air attacks
Today, Russian invaders carried out 62 air strikes using 93 combat aircraft. In addition, the Russians engaged 992 kamikaze drones and fired over four thousand rounds at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.
The situation at the frontlines
Since the beginning of this day, in the Pokrovsk direction, militant units have tried to break through our defenses 52 times near the towns of Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, Dachne, Kalynove, Vodiane Druhe, Zelene Pole, Novotoretsk, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Nadezhdinka, Preobrazhenka and Shevchenko. Seven firefights are still ongoing. Vasylivka, Hryshyne, and Bahatyr came under enemy air strikes.
“The adversary is suffering significant losses - today Ukrainian troops neutralized 243 Russian militants in this direction, 120 of them were destroyed irretrievably. Moreover, 21 vehicles, three UAV control antennas were destroyed, three tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, and two self-propelled howitzers were damaged,” the statement says.
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian attacks near Vovchansk. The Russians launched air strikes on Velyki Prokhody and Lyptsi.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russians conducted eight assaults on the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Petropavlivka and Zahryzove. Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks, and two more combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions six times near Novyi, Novoyehorivka, and Yampolivka over the last day.
In the Siversk direction, the Russian forces made four attempts to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops near Bilohorivka. Three attacks have already been repelled by Ukrainian soldiers, and one battle is underway.
In the Kramatorsk direction, three combat engagements were registered near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora, two of them are still ongoing. The Russian army attacked Markove with guided aerial bombs.
In the Toretsk direction, Russians attacked the positions of the defense forces nine times. The invaders concentrated their main offensive efforts near Krymske and Toretsk. All attacks have been repelled so far. Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka came under air strikes. Today Ukrainian defenders shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft in the direction.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Russian army attacked 12 times near Kostiantynopil today. Nine attacks have been repelled, three are ongoing. The Russians launched an air strike in the area of Rozlyv.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Russian forces, with the support of aviation, carried out one attack in the direction of Novopil. In addition, they carried out air strikes on Huliaipole, Stepnohirsk, and Novodarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russians launched an air strike on Olhivske.
The Russian military did not conduct any offensive actions in the Orikhiv and Prydniprovsky directions.
In the operational zone in the Kursk region, Ukrainian Armed Forces units repelled 27 attacks by the Russian military over the past day, and another battle is ongoing. In addition, the Russians launched 28 air strikes, using 40 guided bombs, and carried out 469 artillery attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, including 12 from multiple launch rocket systems.
The situation in other directions did not change significantly.
Over the last day, from February 7 to February 8, Russian troops lost 1,210 soldiers in combat against Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 35 artillery systems, 102 attack drones, and 95 enemy vehicles.
