Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 6

Since the beginning of the day on January 6, there have been 108 combat engagements on the front. The highest number of enemy attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of January 6, Ukrainian forces have repelled two attacks in the Vovchansk area on the Kharkiv direction. The invaders carried out airstrikes with KABs (guided aerial bombs) in the areas of Orishanka and Udy, and NAR (unguided aircraft rockets) strikes on Hraniv in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched three assault operations near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove. Two engagements ended, while one is still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the occupying army attacked seven times near Nadiya, Pervomaiske, and Makiivka. Clashes are ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy aviation struck Siversk, using seven KABs. The enemy also attacked Ukrainian defenders once near Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attempts by the Russian army to advance in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and towards Stupochky. The Russian invaders launched 24 NARs towards Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked twice near Shcherbynivka. Airstrikes hit Katerynivka, Toretsk, and Oleksandro-Kalynove.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the morning, the Russian troops have attempted 16 times to push our defenders out of their positions near Tarasivka, Yelizavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, and Pokrovsk. Defense forces have held the enemy off, repelling 12 attacks. Four engagements are still ongoing. Olexandropil was hit by an airstrike.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked seven times near Sloviansk, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne. Six engagements ended, with one still ongoing. Andriivka was hit by KAB airstrikes.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy attacked four times near Kostiantynopil and Kostiantynopilske. One engagement is still ongoing. The enemy launched an airstrike with NARs in the Novopil area.
The enemy attacked once near Novodanylivka in the Orikhiv direction. The Russian army also carried out an airstrike with unguided rockets on Stepnohirske.
in the Huliaipole and Prydniprovskyi directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks by the invaders, and 45 engagements are still ongoing.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost over 798,000 soldiers.
In particular, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army lost another 1,550 soldiers. Additionally, the Defense Forces destroyed 14 tanks, 45 armored fighting vehicles, 62 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
