Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 2
Since the beginning of the day on December 2, 193 combat engagements have occurred in the frontline. Russian forces concentrated their efforts in three directions in the western part of the Donetsk region, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Over the past day, Russian forces launched one missile strike and 25 airstrikes across Ukraine, using one guided missile and 36 guided aerial bombs.
Additionally, they deployed 717 kamikaze drones and carried out over 4,000 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled six enemy assaults near Vovchansk and Starytsia. Four were stopped, while two battles are ongoing. Russian aviation targeted Neskuchne and Kozacha Lopan with eight guided bombs.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched seven assaults near Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Zelenyi Hai, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova. Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks, and one clash continues.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces carried out 11 assaults near Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Kopanky, Yampilivka, and Terny since the start of the day.
In the Siversk direction, one enemy assault was reported near Bilohorivka during the day.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled four engagements near Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces concentrated their efforts near Toretsk, Nelipivka, and Shcherbynivka, launching eight assaults. Three battles remain ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops attempted 40 breakthroughs near Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Krasnyi Yar, Dachenske, Zhovte, Chumatske, and Novyi Trud. One clash is still active.
The enemy is suffering heavy losses, with over 411 personnel neutralized in this direction today, including 200 killed. Additionally, one vehicle and a mortar were destroyed.
In the Kurakhove direction, 67 enemy attacks targeted Berestky, Stari Terny, Sontsivka, Novodmytrivka, Zoria, Kurakhove, Dalne, Katerynivka, Antonivka, and Hannivka. Two clashes are ongoing. Ukrainian forces eliminated 100 Russian troops, including 45 killed, and destroyed two motorcycles and two electronic warfare stations.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces carried out 40 offensive actions near Kostiantynopolske, Rozdolne, Velyka Novosilka, Novoandriivka, Novosilka, and Novopil. Five battles remain active. The enemy also conducted an airstrike with a guided bomb near Andriivka.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian aviation targeted Huliaipole with airstrikes.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy attacks near Dnipriany and Kozatskyi Island. The enemy saw no success.
The situation remains unchanged in other directions.
Frontline situation and Russian air attacks
On the evening of December 2, Ukrainian air defense shot down Kh-59/69 missiles launched toward Kryvyi Rih. The missiles were fired from Su-34 and Su-57 fighter jets.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces might attempt to push Ukrainian troops out of positions in the Kursk region and later advance into the Sumy regions, potentially using North Korean soldiers.
The Ukrainian president also emphasized that Ukrainian military losses throughout the full-scale war are significantly lower than some Western media reports suggest.
