Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 18

There have been 87 combat clashes on the front since the beginning of the day on November 18. The hottest areas right now are the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff's Facebook page.
Russian shelling
Today, communities in the Sumy region, such as Novenke and Pavlivka, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Additionally, the Russian forces carried out airstrikes using guided aerial bombs (KABs) on the Basivka area.
Situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy made three attempts to storm our positions near Vovchansk. They carried out airstrikes on Kozacha Lopan, dropping five KABs.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army attacked the Defense Forces seven times in the areas of Kruhlyakivka and Lozove. Two clashes are still ongoing. Ukrainian forces are holding their ground and inflicting losses on the enemy.
In the Lyman direction, the invaders launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novoliubivka and Bilohorivka during the day. One clash has ended, while the other continues.
In the Toretsk direction, with air support, the enemy tried to break through our defenses near Toretsk. KAB strikes hit Kostiantynivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, with air support, Russian troops made 17 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Petrivka, Pustynka, and Novooleksiivka. The Defense Forces are holding the line and repelled ten enemy attacks. Seven clashes are still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked 23 times near the settlements of Berestky, Sontsivka, Voznesenka, Dalnie, Yelyzavetivka, Katerynivka, and Antonivka. Six attempts by the Russian army to advance have been repelled. The enemy bombarded Romanivka and Dachne with KABs.
In the Vremivka direction, there were 12 enemy attacks near Trudove, Rozdolne, Makarivka, Rivnopil, and Novodarivka. Seven clashes are ongoing.
Six times, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked our defenders in the Prydniprovskyi direction.
"The operation in the Kursk region continues. Since the beginning of the day, Russian aircraft have launched 15 strikes (21 KABs) on their own territory. Ukrainian soldiers have repelled ten enemy attacks today, and the fighting continues," the General Staff added.
Situation on the front lines and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, 149 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines on November 17. The heaviest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,560 soldiers, as well as 107 units of motor vehicles and 99 drones. In total, Russian losses have exceeded 722,000 soldiers.
