Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 9
On November 8, there were 171 combat clashes along the Ukrainian front, with the most intense attacks reported in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders halted 36 assault attempts by Russian forces targeting the settlements of Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Selydove, Vyshneve, and Chumatske.
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled 40 Russian attacks. Russian troops intensified efforts to advance in areas around Illinka, Berestky, Novoselydivka, Novodmytrivka, Voznesenka, Maksymivka, Antonivka, Dalne, and Katerynivka.
Situation on other fronts
On the Kharkiv front, Russian forces used bomber aircraft to assault Ukrainian positions near the settlement of Vovchansk five times.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were 14 Russian attacks over the past day. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults near Kyndrashivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Lozova, Pishchane, and Berestove.
On the Lyman front, Russian forces launched 12 attacks, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Hrekivka, Zarichne, Terny, Torske, and Hryhorivka.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five Russian assault attempts near Bilohorivka and Verkhnokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked once in the area around Bondarne.
On the Toretsk front, the enemy, actively employing aviation, conducted ten assaults near the settlements of Diliivka, Druzhba, Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Petrivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy launched seven assaults on Ukrainian positions in the regions of Trudove, Kostiantynopilske, and Sukhi Yaly.
In the Orikhiv direction, occupying forces assaulted Ukrainian defensive positions five times near Novoandriivka and Novodanylivka.
With support from bombers and assault aircraft, the enemy launched three unsuccessful attacks on Ukrainian defensive positions on the Prydniprovske front.
There were no signs of enemy offensive group formations on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
Russian losses in Ukraine
Over the past day, Russian forces sustained significant losses, with 1,660 personnel casualties. Ukrainian forces also destroyed five tanks, 36 armored fighting vehicles, 23 artillery systems, 49 operational-tactical drones, three cruise missiles, 66 vehicles, and two units of special equipment.
Additionally, Ukrainian rocket and artillery units struck two areas where Russian personnel, weapons, and equipment were concentrated, as well as an ammunition depot and two Russian command posts.
