Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 29
At the beginning of the day on September 29, there were 136 clashes on the frontline. Russian forces continue active assaults in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Throughout the day, Russian forces launched 70 airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, dropping 110 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they deployed 628 kamikaze drones and conducted over 3,300 shelling attacks on our military positions and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, there were three clashes. Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian attacks near Vovchansk. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out offensive actions near Vyshneve, Kucherivka, Kruhliakivka, Novoosynove, and Lozova. Twelve attacks have ended, with one battle continuing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces assaulted Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Zarichne, Bilohorivka, Nevske, and in the area of the Serebryansky forest. All 12 clashes in this direction have concluded.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack near Verkhniokamianske. Russian forces did not achieve success.
In the Kramatorsk direction, six battles took place near Bila Hora and Chasiv Yar, with one attack by Russian forces still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, there were 11 clashes. Russians assaulted Ukrainian units’ positions near Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, and Nelipivka. Seven battles have ended, while four are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, 28 battles have been fought near the settlements of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Mykolaivka, Lysivka, Selydove, Zelene Pole, Krutyi Yar, and Zhuravka. Ukrainian defense forces stopped all Russian offensive actions.
Today, 297 Russian forces were neutralized in this direction, with 114 of them killed in action. Two infantry fighting vehicles, seven UAVs, and six vehicles were destroyed. Additionally, one armored personnel carrier, a BMP, three mortars, and two vehicles were damaged.
In the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces launched 23 assaults near Tsukuryne, Oleksandropil, Heorhiivka, Bohoyavlenka, Katerynivka, and Kostiantynivka. These battles have all concluded.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces made 17 attempts to displace Ukrainian units from defensive positions near Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenka, Katerynivka, and Yelyzavetivka. Fifteen battles have ended, with two still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, there were three clashes. Russian troops attacked near Novodanylivka.
In other directions, there have been no significant changes.
Meanwhile, In the Orikhiv direction, Russian aviation continues striking Russian settlements with guided aerial bombs. As of now, 14 airstrikes with 20 guided aerial bombs have been reported.
Shelling of Ukraine and the overall frontline situation
On the morning of Sunday, September 29, Russian forces hit Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs. The attack resulted in the destruction of multi-story buildings in three districts of the city. The railway station was also damaged.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces are successfully repelling Russian assaults in Vuhledar and Kostiantynivka, but Russian forces are applying pressure on several fronts simultaneously.
