Over the past day, 157 combat engagements were registered in various sectors of the frontline. Russian troops carried out 84 air strikes, launching 127 guided aerial bombs, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia also carried out 4,030 artillery attacks, including 135 from multiple launch rocket systems. The most intense activity was observed in the areas of Shalyhyne, Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Vuhledar, and Chasiv Yar.

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict significant losses on Russia. Ukrainian aviation and missile forces carried out 8 strikes on places of concentration of Russian troops, 2 radar stations, and important Russian facilities.

In particular, 2 firefights were recorded in the Kharkiv sector near Vovchansk, and 11 attacks took place in the Kupiansk sector. Russia conducted 21 attacks in the Lyman sector and 19 attacks with air support in the Toretsk sector.

The most intense fighting continued in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, where Ukrainian troops repelled 40 and 42 Russian attacks respectively.

Ukrainian defenders are successfully holding back Russia's offensive, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.

Russia's losses in war against Ukraine

Throughout September 16, Ukrainian defenders inflicted significant losses on the Russian army, eliminating 1,020 occupants. In addition, two tanks, 6 armored combat vehicles, and 6 artillery systems were destroyed, significantly weakening Russia's firepower.
