Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 2

Since the start of the day and as of the evening of September 2, 175 recorded combat engagements have been on the front lines. The fiercest fighting is reported in the Pokrovsk direction, though enemy activity is also observed in the Kurakhove and Vremivka directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The military command has presented a report on the operational situation as of 22:00 on September 2.
Enemy shelling
Since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have launched two strikes on Ukrainian territory, firing 30 missiles and conducting 56 airstrikes, deploying 61 guided bombs.
The General Staff added that the enemy also used 498 kamikaze drones for the attacks and carried out over 2,800 shellings targeting the positions of Ukraine's Defense Forces and populated areas.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, there were four combat engagements. Ukrainian forces repelled enemy advances near Vovchansk, though one enemy attack is ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces advanced near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka, and Berestove. Fifteen battles have already concluded, with four more still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army assaulted Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Druzhelyubivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Cherneshchyna, and Novosadove. Ukrainian defense forces halted eight attacks, with ten others continuing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven enemy offensive actions in Verkhniokamianske, Vyiimka, Ivano-Darivka, and Spirne. Two more battles are still underway.
In the Kramatorsk direction, eight battles took place, particularly near Klishchiivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Bila Hora. The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces successfully repelled all enemy attacks in this sector.
In the Toretsk direction, there were 17 combat engagements. The enemy assaulted Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, Romanivka, and Nelipivka. Currently, four enemy attacks are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, 55 battles occurred in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Novohrodivka, Krutyi Yar, Hrodivka, Mykhailivka, and Selydove. Ukrainian defenders repelled 48 offensive actions, with seven more battles still ongoing.
"Today in this direction, 414 Russian soldiers were neutralized, with 197 of them confirmed killed. Additionally, a tank, two armored personnel carriers, one mortar, two drones, three vehicles, one motorcycle, and other important enemy equipment were destroyed. One APC and three vehicles were also damaged," the General Staff reported.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked 25 times near Ukrainsk, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka. Nineteen battles have concluded, with six still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army made 20 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their defensive positions near Vodiane, Vuhledar, Kostiantynivka, and Prechystivka. Two enemy attacks are currently ongoing.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian army suffered defeats after attempting to attack Ukrainian positions twice.
The General Staff added that there have been no significant changes in other directions.
