Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 30

Since the early hours of August 30, 179 combat engagements have been reported along the front lines. The enemy remains active in the Pokrovsk, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Kurakhove directions, according to the evening update from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Today, Russian forces launched two attacks on Ukrainian territory, deploying three missiles and carrying out 61 airstrikes, dropping 73 guided bombs. Additionally, they employed 573 kamikaze drones and conducted over 3,180 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas.
Frontline situation
It should be noted that this information is current as of 22:00.
In the Kharkiv direction, seven combat engagements took place. Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian attacks near Pletenivka, Lyptsi, and Vovchansk. One enemy attack is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted offensive operations near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Novoosynove, Lozova, Andriivka, Stelmakhivka, and Hlushkivka. Twenty-six battles have concluded, while four are still underway.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces assaulted the positions of Ukrainian defense forces near Tverdokhlibove, Novoserhiivka, Druzhelyubivka, Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Nevske, and Novosadove. Ukrainian defenders repelled 21 attacks, with one ongoing near Druzhelyubivka.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy assaults near Verkhniokamianske, Ivano-Darivka, and Vyiimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, 12 battles occurred, particularly near Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Ivanivske, Andriivka, and Predtechyne. Ukrainian forces successfully halted all enemy attacks.
In the Toretsk direction, there were 15 combat engagements. Russian forces attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near Toretsk and Nelipivka, with one attack still ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsk direction, 55 battles have occurred in the areas around Zelene Pole, Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Karlivka, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, Myroliubivka, Mykhailivka, and Selydove. Ukrainian defenders repelled 52 offensive actions, with three battles still ongoing.
"Today, in this direction, 318 enemy combatants were neutralized, with 132 of them eliminated permanently. Additionally, a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, eight UAVs, and two vehicles were destroyed. An armored personnel carrier, three artillery systems, and two vehicles were also damaged," the report states.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy launched 23 attacks near Ukrainsk, Halytsynivka, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka. Twenty-two battles have concluded, while one is still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made eight unsuccessful attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their defensive positions near Vuhledar and Vodiane.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy also failed in its offensive near Robotyne.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy was defeated after two attempts to attack Ukrainian defense positions.
In other directions, there were no significant changes.
Additionally, the General Staff today commended the soldiers of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade for their effective actions in inflicting significant losses on the enemy in both manpower and equipment.
According to a report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces are conducting two tactical operations to capture Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia lost 1,200 of its soldiers in the war against Ukraine in the 24 hours between August 29 and 30. In total, the enemy's losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion amount to 613,590 soldiers.
