Since the beginning of the day, August 28, the number of enemy attacks on the frontline has increased to 111. The Russian forces continue to focus their main efforts in Pokrovsk and are also active in the Kupiansk and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

According to the General Staff, the border areas of the Sumy region continue to suffer from Russian airstrikes. Specifically, the Russian army targeted the areas of Pustohorod, Bilopillia, Horile, and Basivka with guided bombs.

Civilian infrastructure in Russia is also suffering from artillery and airstrikes by the Russian army.

Situation in the frontline

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian troops stormed the positions of Ukrainian units twice near Lyptsi and Vovchansk. The battle continues. The situation is under control. The enemy also fired unguided aircraft rockets from helicopter gunships near Kozacha Lopan, Alisivka and Kudiyivka.

The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions in the Kupiansk direction seventeen times. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka and Kruhliakivka.

In the Lyman direction, enemy units attacked in the areas of Druzheliubivka, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, Nevske and Novosadove. Ukrainian troops have repelled eight attacks since the beginning of the day.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked twice near Spirne but met a fierce resistance.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian troops carried out nine assault operations near Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Andriivka, Bila Hora and Hryhorivka. Two attacks were carried out with unguided aircraft rockets near the latter settlement.

In the Toretsk direction, the number of hostile attacks is currently 13. Today, the enemy attacked in the areas of Pivnichne, Druzhba, Toretsk, New York and Nelipivka. Fighting is still ongoing in three locations near Nelipivka. The aggressor's aircraft struck Druzhba with unguided aircraft rockets.

The largest number of combat engagements was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction. Thus, since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have made 34 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of eleven different settlements. Almost half of all the clashes took place near Selydove and Novohrodivka.

The defense forces, holding back the enemy's onslaught, have already repelled a total of 23 enemy attacks in the area. Other attacks are ongoing. The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Russian forces launched 22 attacks on Ukrainian units, attempting to advance in the areas of Ukrainka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Karlivka. Nearly half of the clashes are ongoing, with intense fighting currently taking place near Karlivka.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army twice attacked Ukrainian positions toward Kostiantynivka and Vodiane. They also used aviation five times to strike Vuhledar and Yehorivka with unguided aircraft rockets.

In the Orikhiv direction, Stepove was hit by two guided aerial bombs. The Russian forces also conducted two assaults near Robotyne and Novodanylivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy did not carry out offensive actions. However, they launched unguided aircraft rockets from a Su-25 strike aircraft toward Kozatske.

Frontline situation and Russia's losses

According to the General Staff, on August 27, a total of 184 combat engagements were recorded between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russian forces on the front.

The highest enemy activity was observed in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 55 assault actions. Intense fighting also occurred in the Kupiansk, Toretsk, and Kurakhove directions.

The total losses of Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 611,000 personnel. Over the past day alone, Russia lost 1,090 soldiers.
