Today, August 22, the number of Russian attacks on the frontline increased to 78. Russia continues to be most active in the Pokrovsk sector, where it conducted about 40 percent of all combat engagements, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

According to Ukraine's General Staff, the border areas of the Sumy region continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling. In particular, the settlements of Bachevsk, Rudak, Novovasylivka, Chernatske, Porozok, Slavhorod, Karpovychi, Hrabovske, and Pokrovka were affected by Russian artillery shelling.

In addition, Russian troops are bombarding both Ukrainian and Russian territory with guided aerial bombs - 20 air strikes involving 38 UAVs have been recorded so far.

Sectors

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian invaders stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders twice near Vovchansk. The battle is ongoing. The situation is under control. Russia also launched multiple rocket launchers from a Ka-52 helicopter in the area of Kozacha Lopan.

Russia attacked Ukrainian positions seven times in the Kupiansk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assaults near Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, and in the direction of Lozova. The area around Kruhliakivka came under a Russian aerial bomb attack.

In the Lyman sector, Russian units attacked in the areas of Novosadove, Hrekivka, Terny, Nevske, Torske, and Dibrova. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian troops have repelled 7 Russian attacks in this area. Another battle is underway near Makiivka. The situation is under control.

In the Siversk sector, Russia attacked near Bilohorivka, Vyimka, and Spirne, Russian troops tried to break through Ukrainian defenses 5 times.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russian invaders carried out 6 assault operations near Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Hryhorivka, and Chasiv Yar. They attacked the latter with 22 unguided aerial missiles.

In the Toretsk sector, the number of Russian attacks is currently 4. Today Russia attacked in the areas of New York and Nelipivka. Ukrainian defenders are giving Russians a decent fightback - all the engagements have been completed. Russia's aviation struck Druzhba twice with unguided aerial missiles, also Russians Pleshchiivka with drones.

The largest number of combat engagements was registered in the Pokrovsk sector. Thus, since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupants have made 33 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Mykhailivka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Kamyshivka, Myroliubivka and Novotroitske.

Almost half of all the fighting took place near Mykolaivka and Novohrodivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces have already repelled 28 Russian attacks in the area.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russian invaders attacked Ukrainian units 10 times, trying to advance near Kostiantynivka and Karlivka. The fighting continues.

In the Vremivka sector, the Russian invaders attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 3 times - they were trying to advance towards Vuhledar and from Volodymyrivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia attacked Novodanylivka with guided aerial bombs and Novoandriivka, Novodarivka, and Pyatykhatky with unguided aerial missiles.

Russia did not conduct any assault operations in the Prydniprovskyi sector.

Situation at front and Russian losses

According to Ukraine's General Staff, 134 combat engagements were registered at the frontline over the past day. Most of the fighting took place in the Pokrovsk sector, and Russia did not attack in three areas over the past day.

Over the last day, Russians lost 1,130 soldiers, 7 tanks, 25 armored personnel carriers, 46 artillery systems, 96 operational and tactical drones, and other equipment at the front.
