Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 8

The number of hostilities on the frontline decreased over the last day. The Ukrainian military recorded 96 combat engagements, and 136 clashes yesterday, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yesterday, Russia launched 69 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas and dropped 110 guided aerial bombs.
Aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted 11 strikes on the areas of concentration of Russian personnel and equipment and also destroyed 2 Russian air defense systems, 7 missile troop equipment units, and artillery, 2 ammunition depots.
Sectors
Kharkiv sector. Russian troops attacked 3 times in the last day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian assaults near Vovchansk and Tykhe.
Kupiansk sector. Russia attempted to advance near Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, and towards Novoosynove 5 times.
Lyman sector. Russia attacked 12 times near Novoserhiivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Torske, and the Serebryanske forestry.
Siversk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 Russian assaults near Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, and Pereizne.
Kramatorsk sector. Russians attacked 7 times, concentrating all their efforts near Chasiv Yar, carrying 2 airstrikes with unguided bombs.
Toretsk sector. Russia carried out 11 attacks in the areas of Pivnichne, New York, Zalizne, and Toretsk. The Russian aggressor conducted 19 airstrikes on Toretsk and the adjacent territories, dropping more than three dozen guided bombs.
Pokrovsk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 Russian assaults in the areas of ten different settlements. Vozdvyzhenka, Zhelanne, Karlivka, and Hrodivka are the main areas of concentration of the Russian efforts. With the support of aviation, the Russians tried to force the Ukrainian Armed Forces units out of their positions.
Kurakhove sector. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 Russian attacks near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Paraskoviivka.
Vremivka sector. Russian troops conducted 2 attempts to advance from Volodymyrivka.
Orikhiv sector. 1 firefight took place in the area of Robotyne.
Prydniprovskyi sector. 4 Russian attacks were unsuccessful.
Russia's losses
Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders have eliminated another 1,140 Russian troops, and the destruction of a Russian aircraft and a helicopter has been confirmed. Russia has lost more than 587 thousand soldiers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defense Forces reported that Russians had intensified shelling in the north of Kharkiv region, particularly in the area of Vovchansk. Ukrainian Armed Forces note that the Russian occupiers are concentrating forces and equipment there. Russia may be preparing for an assault.
