Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 3

There were 123 combat engagements on the front lines over the past 24 hours. The highest number of battles was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have carried out 80 airstrikes, dropping 114 guided aerial bombs. The occupiers also conducted 4,693 shelling attacks.
In the last day, aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck 15 targets, including enemy personnel concentration areas, military equipment concentration areas, a drone control point, and also hit two air defense systems and an ammunition depot of the enemy.
Situation on the front lines
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy continued offensive (assault) actions, with a total of six combat engagements. Fighting occurred in the areas of the settlements of Hlyboke, Tykhe, and Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, three combat engagements took place. Defense forces repelled enemy attacks near Stelmakhivka.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 15 enemy attacks in the areas of Makiivka in the Luhansk region, and Terny and Torske in the Donetsk region.
In the Severodonetsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Ivanivka, Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, Pereizne, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces halted 12 attempts by the enemy to break through the defenses of the defenders in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
The enemy made 24 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses in the Toretsk direction, in the areas of the settlements of Pivnichne, Toretsk, New York, and Zalizne.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 36 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Zhelanne, Vozdvizhenka, Ivanivka, Novoselivka Persha, and Kalynove, where the enemy attempted to dislodge units from their positions.
In the Kurakhiv direction, Defense Forces continue to hold off the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka, where the enemy attempted to break through Ukrainian defensive positions three times.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made five unsuccessful attempts to breach the defenses of Ukrainian troops towards Vodiane and Stepova Novosilka in the Donetsk region.
In the Orikhiv direction, two combat engagements occurred near Novodanylivka and Novoandriivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Enemy losses on the front lines
Since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost over 581,000 soldiers. Additionally, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed thousands of enemy units, including ships and aircraft.
In the last day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated nearly 1,200 occupiers.
According to estimates by a British general, Russia would need five years to capture four Ukrainian regions, with potential losses for Russia reaching up to 1.8 million soldiers.
