Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 21

Yesterday, July 20, the Defense Forces struck a command post, an artillery system, a radar station, and nine areas where enemy personnel and military equipment were concentrated.

In the past 24 hours, there were 172 combat engagements on the front line.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy continued active operations, with a total of seven combat engagements. Fighting occurred in the areas of Vovchansk and Hlyboke.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked AFU positions 13 times. The Defense Forces repelled assaults near seven different settlements. The main efforts of the invaders were concentrated in the areas of Berestove and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, the defenders repelled 11 attacks by the occupiers near Nevske, Makiivka, and towards Lozova.

In the Siversk direction, the Defense Forces also repelled 11 assaults near Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Vyimka, and Pereizne.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 20 enemy attempts to break through the defense, particularly in the areas of Chasiv Yar, which saw more than half of these engagements, Klishchiivka, Kalynivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Toretsk direction, supported by aviation, the enemy launched 10 attacks near the settlements of Pivnichne, Zalizne, and New York.

In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders repelled 52 assault and offensive actions. The enemy concentrated efforts in the areas of Novooleksandrivka and Prohres, conducting 16 and 17 attacks respectively. Additionally, the AFU stopped attempts by the occupiers to advance near Vozdvyzhenka, Lozuvatka, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Kurakhiv direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka, where the enemy tried to breach the defense 15 times.

In the Vremivka direction, the aggressor carried out six assaults on positions near Kostiantynivka and Staromayorske in the Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, there were seven combat engagements in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaky, and Novodanylivka. The enemy launched over fifty unguided air rockets towards Kamianske and Lobkove.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence, shelling settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities.

Enemy losses at the front

As reported earlier by the General Staff of the AFU, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated an additional 1,100 Russian invaders in the past day. Additionally, the AFU destroyed dozens of enemy equipment units.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost over 566,000 occupiers.
