Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 25
The situation along the entire contact line remains difficult. However, the Defense Forces are in control, reports the General staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the number of combat engagements has increased to 71 since the beginning of the day.
"Ukrainian defenders are keeping the enemy under strict fire control and depleting its offensive potential. In some areas, our soldiers are taking measures to improve the tactical situation," the statement said.
Situation at the frontlines
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian invaders have already carried out 10 assault actions to seize our defensive borders. Fighting is still ongoing near Vovchansk, Tykhe, Starytsia and Neskuchne. The enemy launched four multiple rocket launchers near Prykolotne. The situation is under control.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy increased the number of assault operations to 11. They are actively using aviation. For instance, four UAVs were dropped in the area of Stalmakhivka and another one in the town of Kupiansk. Near Rayhorodka, the enemy is striking with unguided aerial missiles. In some areas, Ukrainian defenders are actively responding.
In the Lyman direction, in addition to Torske, the enemy attacked the Defense Forces near Terny and Serebryanske forestry. Our soldiers repelled three assaults, and one is still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy became more active near Bilohorivka and Verkhnekamianske. Four firefights were registered there, two of them are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy increased the number of assault operations to seven. In addition to Klishchiivka, the enemy tried to break through our defenses near Novyi, Ivanivske and Andriivka. The defense forces are resolutely holding the line.
The situation remains hot in the Pokrovsk direction. The number of combat engagements here increased to 18. Hostile attacks in the vicinity of Umanske and Vodiane were added. Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 12 aggressor's attacks, six more are ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Defense Forces repelled seven assaults by Russian occupants. In the vicinity of Pobeda, the enemy inflicted damage with two guided bombs. Two more firefights are ongoing in this sector.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, at the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro, five enemy attempts to push our units back in the Krynky area failed.
In other areas, the situation has not changed significantly.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on Saturday, May 25, the Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian Su-25 aircraft in Donetsk region. This is the eighth Russian aircraft destroyed in May this year.
