Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 21

The Ukrainian military repelled 17 Russian attacks in the Lyman direction, held their positions and repelled the assaults of the occupying forces in the Kherson direction. Ukrainian missile troops hit the Russia's ammunition depot, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past day, 70 combat clashes took place. In total, Russians launched 4 missile and 69 air strikes, carried out 123 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population.
At night, the Russian occupiers launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. According to preliminary data, using 8 cruise and 3 ballistic missiles. All missiles were destroyed by the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces.
The following were hit by airstrikes:
- Hrytsenkovo, Popivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Sumy region;
- Oleksandrivka, Kozacha Lopan and Veterynarne of the Kharkiv region;
- Belohorivka, Luhansk Region;
- Ivanivka, Terny, Rozdolivka, Vesele, Sviato-Pokrovske, Siversk, Kolodiazi, Lyman, Ocheretyne, Urozhaine, Maksymivka, Dokuchaivsk, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Staromaiorske of the Donetsk region;
- Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia Region;
- Antonivka, Kherson region.
About 150 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under Russian artillery fire.
Situation at fronts
On the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains without significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our troops to threatening directions, increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Kupansk direction.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 17 Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka, Zolotarivka, Luhansk region, and Yampolivka, Terny, Rozdolivka, Vesele, Donetsk region, where Russians, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 Russian attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka settlements of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 Russian attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Semenivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Netailove, Nevelske settlements of the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back Russians in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine, where Russians, with the support of aviation, tried 24 times to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops.
In the Orikhiv direction, Russians, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 7 times in the areas of Staromaiorske settlements of the Donetsk region and Robotyne of the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the Russians do not give up its intention to knock out Ukrainian units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. So, during the past day, 3 attacks were carried out on the positions of Ukrainian troops on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russians troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
Russian losses
During the day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 10 areas of concentration of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment.
Ukrainian missile troops damaged 1 Russian ammunition depot.
The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine is 433,090 occupiers.
