Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 10

Russian shelling

Over the past day, there have been 42 military clashes. In total, the enemy delivered 2 missile strikes and 29 air strikes, conducting 19 bombardments with rocket artillery systems on the positions of our troops and residential areas.

As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential and multi-apartment buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, have suffered destruction and damage.

Frontline situation

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no significant changes detected in the formation of enemy offensive groups. Identified units of the Belarusian armed forces are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage-reconnaissance activities, fires on populated areas from Russian territory, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of the populated settlements of Vilcha and Vilkhuvatka in the Kharkiv region.

Over 30 populated areas, including Hremiachka in the Chernihiv region; Photovyzh, Rodionivka, Volfyne, Vysokoe, Seredyna Buda in the Sumy region; Hatysche, Pletenivka, Zemlianky in the Kharkiv region, were shelled with artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy attempted to break through the defense of our troops. The enemy also carried out an aviation strike in the area of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Synkivka, Ivanivka, Petropavlivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 3 attacks east of Terniv and Veseloye in the Donetsk region, where the enemy sought to improve tactical positions. The enemy also launched an aviation strike in the area of Serebrianske Forestry in the Luhansk region.

Over 15 populated areas, including Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Klyshchivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Klyshchiivka, Andriivka in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Siverske, and another 11 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, unsuccessfully attempted to improve their tactical position.

The enemy also conducted an aviation strike in the area of Oleksandrivka in the Donetsk region. Approximately 15 populated areas, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Stepove, Avdiivka, Siverske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Maryinka direction, Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy, with aviation support, unsuccessfully attempted 14 times to break through the defense of our troops. The towns of Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskevivka in the Donetsk region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, defenders repelled an enemy attack in the area of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive actions. Over 15 populated areas, including Poltavka, Chervone, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotine, and Kamyanske in the Zaporizhzhia region, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson direction, the regional center of the Kherson region suffered artillery shelling from the enemy. Additionally, the adversary carried out shelling from rocket artillery systems in the areas of populated settlements such as Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Krynky, and Kyzomys in the Kherson region.

Advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The enemy persists in its intention to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

During the day, the adversary carried out 9 unsuccessful assault actions on the positions of our troops, but our units continue to hold their occupied positions and inflict significant losses on the enemy.

Enemy losses

During the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces conducted strikes on 7 areas where the enemy personnel were concentrated. Additionally, using the forces and means of the Ukrainian air defense, a guided aviation missile X-59 was destroyed.

Units of the missile forces inflicted damage on 2 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, armaments, military equipment, command post, ammunition depot, and radio-electronic warfare station.
