Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 9

Ukrainian troops continue to advance in the Melitopol and Baлhmut directions, repelled enemy attacks in the Mariynka area, and destroyed an enemy radio electronic reconnaissance station, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past 24 hours, there were 55 military clashes. In total, the enemy carried out 1 missile strike and 13 airstrikes, along with 42 artillery shelling attacks on our troops' positions and civilian areas.
Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population due to Russian terrorist attacks. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have sustained damages and destruction.
Furthermore, the Russian Federation launched another attack on Ukraine, using a guided missile X-59, which was intercepted by our anti-air defense.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the enemy forming offensive groups.
Designated units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts reconnaissance and subversive activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border.
Approximately 20 populated areas, including Senkivka, Bleshnia, Mykolaivka, Zaliznyi Mist in the Chernihiv region; Wolfyne, Basivka, Yunakivka, Stepok in the Sumy region; Ternova, Izbicke, Starytsia in the Kharkiv region, have experienced enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful storming actions in the area of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where our troops repelled 7 attacks. Aviation strikes were carried out near Petropavlivka and Stepove in the Donetsk region.
Approximately 10 populated areas, including Novomlynske, Synkivka, Kyslivka, Krokhmalne, and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the occupiers carried out unsuccessful storming actions near Stelmakhivka and Novooheorivka in the Luhansk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Novoselivka in the Donetsk region and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.
Around 10 populated areas were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling, including Makiiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, Fedorivka, Rai-Oleksandrivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. Over 20 populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdiumivka, and New York in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, with the support of aviation, the enemy carried out unsuccessful storming actions southeast of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces repelled 7 attacks.
Around 15 populated areas were under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Novokalynove, Orlivka, Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, Opytne, and Siverne in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, with the support of aviation, the enemy conducted 23 unsuccessful attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. They also carried out aviation strikes near Oleksandropil and Novomykhailivka.
Around 10 populated areas in the Donetsk region were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, Antonivka, and Yelyzavetivka.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, with the support of aviation, the enemy conducted storming actions near Zolota Nyva and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region but without success.
Over 20 populated areas were under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful storming actions in the areas of Verbovo and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia, where our defenders repelled 4 attacks. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Novodarivka and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia.
Over 20 populated areas were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling, including Levadne, Huliaypole, Novodanilivka, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy's artillery shelling impacted Zolota Balka, Tokarivka, Poniativka, Dniprovske in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.
Ukrainian advance
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, conducting offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction. They inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment and exhaust the enemy along the entire frontline.
Enemy losses
During the day, the defense forces' aviation carried out 4 strikes on the concentration areas of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
Missile troops units struck 2 command posts, 4 artillery systems, and a radio-electronic reconnaissance station of the enemy.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amounts to 308,720 military personnel.
