Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 6
Ukrainian forces are advancing in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions, repelling Russian attacks near Makiivka (Luhansk region), and destroying enemy air defense means, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling continues
The Russian Federation continues its aggressive war despite significant losses and remains committed to its plans for the complete occupation of Ukrainian territory.
The adversary continues to disregard the laws and norms of warfare, using terror tactics, launching attacks, and shelling both military and civilian objects, resulting in unfortunate casualties among the civilian population.
Over the past day, there were 28 clashes. The enemy carried out 2 missile strikes and 57 airstrikes, launching 43 barrages from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Additionally, the Russian Federation launched another attack on Ukraine, employing 33 combat UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 25 enemy Shaheds.
Unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population due to Russian terrorist attacks. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered destruction and damage.
Frontline situation update
The operational situation in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine remains challenging.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation, and there are no clear signs of enemy offensive groupings.
Designated units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are carrying out tasks in border areas adjacent to the Ukrainian region.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy continues to maintain a military presence in border areas, conducts shelling of populated areas from Russian Federation territory, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy's artillery and mortar shelling targeted more than 15 populated areas, including Vovkivka, Stepne, Novodmytrivka, and Popivka in the Sumy region; Vovchansk, Hatyshche, and Zemlyanky in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas near the settlements of Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. The enemy carried out aviation strikes near populated areas of Podoly, Ivanivka, Synkivka, and Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region.
The enemy's artillery and mortar shelling affected regions of over 15 populated areas, including Kamianka, Dvorichna, Berestove, Kyslivka, and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defensive forces repelled 5 enemy attacks in the region east of Makiivka in the Luhansk Region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of populated settlements Pisky-Radkyvski in the Kharkiv кegion, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk кegion, and Spirne and Vesele in the Donetsk region.
Over 10 populated areas were affected by the enemy's artillery and mortar shelling, including Nevse, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Spirne and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the area south of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Aviation strikes were carried out by the enemy in the regions of populated areas Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
More than 15 populated areas came under artillery and mortar fire from the enemy, including Khromove, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in Donetsk Region.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted an aviation strike in the vicinity of Avdiivka. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected approximately 10 populated areas, including Avdiivka, Siverske, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, during the day, defensive forces successfully repelled about 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka. The enemy carried out aviation strikes in the regions of populated settlements Novomykhailivka and Kostiantynivka.
Around 10 populated areas came under fire from the enemy, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of populated settlements Vuhledar, Zolota Niva, and Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region and north of Pryiutne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of the populated settlement Vodiane in the Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected over 10 populated areas, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Urozhai, and Storozheve in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, defensive forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area northeast of Novoprokopyvka. The enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of the populated settlement Mala Tokmachka.
Over 20 populated areas came under artillery and mortar fire, including Poltavka, Huliaypole, Mala Tokmachka, Robotine, Piatykhatky, and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, populated areas Antonivka and Kherson were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
Advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Simultaneously, Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, conducting assault actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
During the day, the defense forces' aviation conducted 11 strikes on areas of enemy personnel, armaments, and military equipment concentration, as well as 3 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile complexes.
Units of the missile forces inflicted damage on 1 command point, 1 anti-aircraft defense system, 6 artillery assets, 1 personnel concentration area, and 1 enemy electronic warfare station.
The total number of losses for the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion stands at 281,090 military personnel.
