Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 5

The Ukrainian military advances on two fronts, repelling more than 10 Russian attacks near Maryinka and destroying the enemy's electronic warfare station, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the day, there were 30 combat clashes. The enemy launched 3 missile and 49 aviation strikes, as well as carried out 26 shelling attacks using multiple rocket launchers against Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian settlements.
Russia also attacked Ukraine with 29 UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type from the southeast direction. 24 enemy Shaheds were destroyed by anti-air defense systems.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered damage and destruction.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains complex.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups.
Identified units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, continues shelling of settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy conducted an aviation strike near Hrabovske in the Sumy region. More than 20 settlements suffered artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes near Ivanivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region. More than 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 4 enemy attacks in the area east of Makiivka in the Luhansk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Spirne in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces achieved success east of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions in the area east of Dyliivka in the Donetsk region. Aviation strikes were carried out near Klishchiivka and Ivanopillia in the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks in the area of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled more than 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka. Approximately 10 settlements were under enemy fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Zolota Nyva and Vodiane in the Donetsk region. Occupants carried out aviation strikes near Urozhaine and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area southeast of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy carried out aviation strikes near Novodarivka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Beryslav, Kozatske, Odradokamianka, and Mykolaivka in the Kherson region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
Advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction and carry out offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and draining the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
During the day, the Ukrainian forces aviation launched 12 strikes on areas with concentrations of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, and 3 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Missile troops units hit the enemy's communication node, anti-aircraft missile system, heavy flamethrower system, 3 artillery units, and the enemy's electronic warfare station.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 280,470 military personnel.
