Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 1

Ukrainian military continues its offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol, consolidating positions at achieved boundaries and conducting counter-battery measures. Over the past day, there were more than 25 combat engagements, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Last night, Russia launched another missile strike on Ukrainian territory. Information regarding the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
During the past day, the occupiers carried out 1 missile strike and 44 aviation strikes, as well as conducted 70 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of these Russian attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
The General Staff noted that the possibility of missile and aviation strikes across Ukraine remains high.
Situation on the frontlines
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv region, conducted artillery and mortar shelling on more than 20 populated areas, including Sosnivka, Karpovychi in the Chernihiv region, Seredyna-Buda, Volfyne, Romashkove, Shalyhyne, Nova Sloboda in the Sumy region, and Vovchansk, Khrypuny, Karaichne, Mala Vovcha, Bolohivka, Budarky in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched an aviation strike in the area of Kotliarivka in the Kharkiv region. Populated areas such as Borova, Kupiansk, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy's attempts at offensive actions near Novoehorivka in the Luhansk region were unsuccessful. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region, Novoehorivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Rai-Oleksandrivka in the Donetsk region. More than 15 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Tverdokhlibove in the Luhansk region, and Rozdolivka, Nykyforivka, Verkhniokamianske, Fedorivka in the Donetsk region, suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Bila Hora and New York in the Donetsk region. Populated areas such as Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Druzhba, and Pivnichne in the Donetsk region were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out artillery and mortar shelling on populated areas Oleksandrivka, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Orlivka, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the defensive forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian forces in the Maryinka area of the Donetsk region. The enemy's offensive actions near Novomykhailivka were unsuccessful. The enemy launched an aviation strike in the area of Krasnohorivka and artillery shelling affected populated areas such as Krasnohorivka, Pobieda, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Kostiantynivka, Antonivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Populated areas including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Orihove in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 populated areas, including Novodarivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Olhivske, Chervone, Charivne, Huliaipole, Lobkove, and Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mykolaivka and Olhivka in the Kherson region and shelled populated areas such as Stanislav, Olhivka, Poniativka, Veletenske, Antonivka in the Kherson region with artillery and mortars.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out 14 strikes on the areas of enemy personnel concentration and 4 strikes on enemy air defense systems.
The missile troops and artillery units damaged 1 enemy artillery piece at its firing position and 2 enemy radar stations.
