Russia turns Kherson into drone training ground
Russia has significantly intensified its shelling of civilians in Kherson since summer. The Russian military has turned the city into a training ground, said Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, according to the Financial Times.
Prokudin revealed that Russia has deployed some of its best drone operators to Kherson. From the opposite bank of the Dnipro River, they launch top-of-the-line drone models to hone combat tactics and train new operators.
The primary targets of these drones are moving targets or vehicles. The largest number of drone attacks was recorded in September of this year - 2,748, resulting in 155 injuries. In October, drone strikes caused the most fatalities, with 12 people killed.
Russian forces frequently target military vehicles, ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, and humanitarian convoys. Civilian areas, including markets, gas stations, cafes, postal offices, and aid centers, are also at risk, particularly in crowded locations.
The drones used in these operations include FPV drones, Chinese-made Mavic models, and larger Russian Lancet drones.
