The Russian Federation continues to push the narrative of the illegitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aiming to disrupt the second Peace Summit, states Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

"In the US and Europe, the emphasis is on the so-called illegitimacy of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Russians are now actively trying to promote this issue solely to disrupt the preparation for the second Peace Summit. The focus is, of course, not on the Western audience, but on the global South - the Middle East, Asia, and Africa to a lesser extent," Kovalenko said.

He noted that in the Middle East and Asia, the Russian Federation, through its resources, is promoting the Chinese peaceful plan.

"It involves ceasing fire and sitting down for negotiations right now, without the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories. Currently, the Russian Federation, through its resources, including in China, even has certain speakers on television and in Asian countries promoting this Chinese plan. They also promote the story of the alleged illegitimacy of the President of Ukraine, suggesting that there is no need to attend the second summit because the government is illegitimate. Supposedly, a different format of discussion is needed," the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine noted.

In addition, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service is involved in spreading such information. It is working to reduce the presence of African countries at the second Peace Summit and prevent the same number of states as at the first meeting.

"Russia's task is to prevent the number of countries from being as high as at the first World Summit when there were over 90 countries and eight international organizations. The Russian Federation wants to do everything to prevent this summit from happening, because there is currently a condition for them to be present there, and they are presented with an ultimatum of certain actions by us with the support of international partners," Kovalenko summed up.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that in the coming months, the country, together with its partners, will work towards finding a common path to restore security based on the points of the Ukrainian peace formula.
