Russia will send around 120,000 conscripts into mandatory military service this fall, according to Russian media reports quoting Colonel General Yevgeny Burdinsky, head of the Russian General Staff's mobilization department.

According to Burdinsky, conscripts will begin leaving assembly points for their places of service on October 10.

"Conscripts will not be sent to carry out tasks related to the special military operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, or on the territory of Ukraine," the General Staff official assured.

More than 140,000 people were sent for mandatory military service from April to July 2026, Burdinsky said.

Since 2026, Russia has had a "permanent" draft. People are drafted throughout the year, while they are sent to their places of service in the spring and fall.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has effectively already begun an additional mobilization.

The Kremlin is increasing the number of people it recruits into the military through various means and plans to involve more foreigners.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, Zelenskyy also spoke about North Korea’s new plan regarding military personnel.

More than 8,000 North Korean troops are already in Russia, while another 10,000 are being selected for training and deployment.
