Russia targets grain and agricultural sector in another night attack on Ukraine
On the night of September 1, the Russian troops attacked Ukraine with drones and an Iskander missile. Grain and the agricultural sector were under attack, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitalii Kim.
“On the night of September 1, the enemy used an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Kursk region and 11 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Cape Chauda (Crimea),” the Air Force said.
What was the target
This time, according to the military, the Russians targeted Ukrainian grain and the logistics of the agricultural sector, particularly in the Mykolaiv and Sumy regions.
According to Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, they sent drones to the Halytsynivska community.
“In the village of Lymany, a fire broke out in a grain storage facility, firefighters quickly extinguished it. There were no casualties,” he said.
How air defense worked
As a result of combat operations, units of anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units of the Air Force, and crews of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 8 attack UAVs.
Air defense activities were conducted in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kirovohrad, and Dnipro regions. One Russian drone was shot down in the Mykolaiv region.
Russian attack on Ukraine on Aug 31
Russian troops attack Ukraine with drones almost every night. They often use the tactic of combined strikes, with, for example, Iskander missiles.
On the night of August 31, Russians launched Iskander, S-300, and 52 Shaheds at Ukraine. The air defense system shot down 24 kamikaze drones. The peculiarity of this attack was that three Russian UAVs flew to Russia and Belarus, and another 25 fell on their own.
