Russia suffers record losses of 230,000 troops and 1,300 tanks in Ukraine in six months

In the first half of 2025, Russian military losses in Ukraine reached record levels, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs.
Summary of the half-year
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the losses amount to 230,180 soldiers. This is roughly equivalent to more than 19 full divisions.
In addition to personnel losses, significant equipment losses also occurred. Over six months, Ukrainian forces destroyed 1,311 tanks — equivalent to 42 tank battalions — and 2,885 troop-carrying AFVs.
Russia lost the most tanks in February — 331 units — while armored combat vehicle losses were highest in January and March, with 610 and 607 units destroyed, respectively.
More than 21,000 vehicles were destroyed or damaged, almost matching the total for all of 2024. The largest losses of automotive equipment — 4,104 units — were recorded in April this year.
Intensity of fighting
Ukrainian forces continue effective counter-battery operations. During the first half of 2025, they destroyed or disabled 8,222 Russian artillery systems.
Despite diplomatic calls for negotiations, the intensity of combat remains high. In June alone, there were more than 5,300 clashes. Since the start of the year, the total number of combat engagements exceeded 28,000.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 1.02 million troops. In the past 24 hours, the enemy's losses amounted to another 970 personnel.
The Defense Forces also destroyed:
