On the evening of March 1, Russian forces struck a residential building in Zaporizhzhia. The attack caused a fire, informs Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

“The enemy hit a residential high-rise in Zaporizhzhia. The strike resulted in a fire. Rescue teams and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene,” the message reads.

Earlier, Fedorov had reported on the operation of air defense systems. Local channels have stated that the strike was carried out by a drone.

As of 8:18 PM (Kyiv time), the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration clarified that no victims have sought medical attention following the enemy strike in the city.

Currently, an ambulance crew is on standby at the impact site.

Fedorov confirmed that the strike was carried out by a Shahed drone. As a result, the roof of a residential building was destroyed, and a fire broke out over an area of 300 square meters.

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service (SES) shared additional photos showing the aftermath of the Russian attack. Emergency services clarified that two people were rescued after the Russian strike.

"In the evening, the debris from the enemy drone caused the roof of a two-story residential building to collapse, leading to a large fire. The shockwave damaged neighboring buildings, leaving dozens of people homeless. Rescue workers on the scene saved two residents from the danger zone. Information about the injured is being clarified," the message reads.

Currently, the aftermath is still being addressed, with efforts underway by rescue teams, police, medical personnel, SES psychologists, and volunteers from the Red Cross Society.

"All services are working together to help people overcome the consequences of the attack," SES added.

Russian strike on Odesa, March 1

In addition to Zaporizhzhia, Odesa was also attacked that evening. A ballistic missile strike damaged port infrastructure and a vessel, and two people were reported injured.
