On the night of January 6, Russian troops launched drone and artillery strikes on energy facilities in several regions. As a result, power outages were reported, according to the Ukrenergo electricity transmission system operator.

Due to new Russian strikes, residents in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions are without power this morning.

Also, since yesterday, the city of Slavutych in the Chernihiv region has been almost without power. Restoration work is underway wherever security conditions currently allow.

"Due to the consequences of previous Russian strikes, emergency power cuts have been implemented in several regions as of this morning. The hourly power cut schedules previously announced by the regional power companies are currently not in effect," the statement says.

The company adds that emergency power cuts will be canceled as soon as the situation in the power system stabilizes.

In addition, on Tuesday, measures to restrict electricity consumption for industry and domestic consumers were introduced throughout Ukraine.

Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy sector

Russia is systematically launching massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure using missiles and drones. Such attacks cause significant damage and power outages.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Russians attacked a power generation facility in the Donetsk region on the night of January 5.

Russian drone attacks also completely cut off power to the city of Slavutych in the Kyiv region.
