Russia strikes Ukraine with Iskander missiles and swarm of drones

Russia attacked Ukraine on the night of August 17 with dozens of drones. The occupiers also launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
The Russians launched 60 Shahed strike drones and various types of imitation drones from five directions – Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalovo.
Air defense forces shot down 40 drones in the north and east of the country.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a missile and 20 drones hit 12 locations in frontline areas. Strikes were recorded in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Russia's massive attacks
Earlier, reports circulated online that Russia allegedly plans to expand its attacks on Ukraine and launch up to a thousand drones at once.
German Major General Christian Fröiding also said that Russia allegedly intends to launch up to 2,000 drones at Ukraine simultaneously. However, the Air Force urged caution in commenting on information about alleged escalation of Russian attacks.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia is preparing to increase production of various types of drones, including Shaheds. British intelligence reported that in July Russia set a new record for drone strikes on Ukraine. In one month, the occupiers launched 6,200 drones.
