In July 2025, Russia set a new record for drone strikes on Ukraine. In one month, the Russians launched 6,200 drones, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.

"In July 2025 Russia launched approximately 6,200 one way attack uncrewed aerial systems (OWA UAS) against Ukraine, a new monthly high, surpassing the approximately 5,600 launched in June 2025," the report says.

Russian suicide drones continue to be used in combination with missiles to increase their combat effectiveness and complicate the actions of Ukrainian air defense.

In July, several daily records for the use of suicide drones were also set. At the same time, a significant number of decoy drones were used in conjunction with unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with warheads. This has become a common tactic in Russian strikes against Ukraine.

According to intelligence reports, Russian long-range bombers have maintained their operational pace, continuing to demonstrate the combat capability of the fleet after Ukraine's Operation Spiderweb.

In July, 7 strike groups of long-range bombers were recorded, firing more than 70 missiles at Ukraine.

Massive Russian strikes on Ukraine

Earlier, Major General Christian Froyding, head of the Situation Center for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, said that Russia plans to launch up to 2,000 drones simultaneously against Ukraine.

This information was commented on by Yuriy Ignat, head of communications for the Ukrainian Air Force Command. He called for caution in commenting on information about the alleged increase in Russia's attacks.

According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR), Russia intends to increase the production of various types of drones, including Shaheds. According to Vadym Skibitsky, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russians plan to produce 79,000 drones in 2025.
