Russia strikes Ukraine with ballistic missiles and 138 drones overnight

On the night of August 12, Russia struck Ukraine with a ballistic missile, Kh-31P and Kh-35 guided missiles, and 138 attack drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
In addition to missiles, Russia deployed 138 Shahed-type attack drones, including jet-powered drones, Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy drones.
Launches were recorded from Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The missiles were launched from the territory of the Rostov region and from the Black Sea.
The main targets of Russia's attack last night were the Sumy and Odesa regions.
According to preliminary data as of 9 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 112 Russian drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types, in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.
Airstrikes were recorded at 16 locations. Debris from downed targets fell at two additional locations.
Meanwhile, the consequences of the Russian nighttime strikes are also being reported in other regions.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian drone attacks sparked fires in residential areas and a shopping center, and approximately 1,200 residents were left without power.
Zaporizhzhia suffers from Russian strikes almost daily—on August 11 alone, 6 city residents were killed, and another 19 were wounded.
In addition, analysts have noted a change in Russian tactics regarding the use of ballistic missiles.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russia has abandoned massive salvos of North Korean KN-23 missiles and is now launching them individually, likely due to the low accuracy of previous batches of weapons.
Earlier, Ukrainian officials reported that North Korea had transferred at least 40 such missiles to Russia.
