Russia strikes Ukraine with 79 drones and 2 missiles: Air defense's work reported
On the night of November 5, starting at 8 p.m. Kyiv time on November 4, Russian troops launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine. 2 Kh-59/69 guided missiles were fired from the Black Sea at the Odesa region, according to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, the Kharkiv region was attacked by Russian guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russia launched 79 Shahed and other unidentified attack drones from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, and Orel.
Ukrainian skies were protected by anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare (EW) units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, 2 Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 48 attack drones were confirmed downed in the regions, including Odesa, Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
At the same time, the locations of 30 Russian drones were lost in different regions of Ukraine. One drone returned to the territory of Russia.
Russian drone attacks on Kyiv and region
At about 6 a.m. Kyiv time, an air alert was announced in Kyiv due to the threat of Russian drones. Earlier, late the night before, an air raid alert was also sounded in the capital.
It was reported that at that time, air defense was operating in Kyiv, particularly in the Holosiivskyi district.
In addition, the defenders of the Ukrainian sky continued to fight in the Kyiv region, where Russian Shahed-type attack drones were spotted.
