Russia strikes Ukraine with 172 drones overnight: Air defense's work reported

Russia once again struck Ukraine from eight directions at once—attack drones flew all night, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
On the night of September 21, starting at 6 p.m. Kyiv time on September 20, Russia attacked Ukraine with 172 Shahed and Gerbera strike drones. Of these, 64 were jet-powered drones.
In addition, the Russians used Parodiya decoy drones, as well as Banderol and Dan-T missiles.
The targets were launched simultaneously from the directions of Belgorod, Shatalovo, Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo (Russia), temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Hvardiiske on the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula.
As of 8 a.m. on September 21, Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 147 Russian drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types. Another Banderol/Dan-T missile was also neutralized.
However, there were consequences. The Ukrainian military recorded hits by Russian drones at 14 locations. Debris from the downed targets fell at four additional locations.
As of the morning of September 21, Russian drones were still present in Ukrainian airspace.
That same night, the Russians also struck Zaporizhzhia. There, two high-rise buildings, a shopping center, an educational institution, and a university building were damaged. Five people were injured.
On the evening of September 20, Russian drones also attacked a residential building in Sumy. A woman was killed in the strike, and her 41-year-old husband was injured.
