On the night of July 10, Russia attacked Ukraine with 137 strike drones from various directions. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the Russian drones, but some hit their targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya-type decoy drones were flying in from the following directions: Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk.

The Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled a Russian air attack.

According to preliminary data, as of 8 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 114 Russian drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.

Hits by 18 attack drones were recorded at 16 locations, and debris from downed drones was found at 4 locations.

"Russian attack is ongoing; there are several Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety guidelines!" Ukrainian Air Force warns.

Air defense operations in June

During Russia’s attacks in June, Ukraine destroyed the vast majority of the Russian attack drones. However, the interception rate for ballistic missiles dropped to 40%.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 89% of aerial targets during massive Russian attacks.

In total, Russia launched nearly 6,000 drones and missiles at Ukraine over the course of the month. Ukrainian forces destroyed nearly 5,300 of them.

Ballistic missiles remain the greatest challenge. Intercepting them requires a significant number of RAS-3 missiles for the Patriot air defense systems.
