Russia strikes Ukraine's Odesa region: Large-scale fire, power outages and casualties

Large-scale fires broke out in the Odesa region as a result of Russian drone strikes on the night of October 8. There is damage to civilian, port, and energy infrastructure, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
Last night, Russia launched a massive attack on the Odesa region with strike drones. Most of the Russian targets were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces, but there is damage to civilian, port, and energy infrastructure.
"As a result of the Russian attack, fires broke out in 2 private houses, an administrative building, a gas station, and the port area. 4 more private houses were damaged. Containers with vegetable oil and wood pellets caught fire in the port," the head of the regional military administration says.
According to preliminary information, 5 people were injured. All of them are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
Due to the Russian attack, over 30,000 subscribers were left without electricity.
83 rescuers took part in the liquidation, 18 firefighting vehicles and a firefighting robot from the State Emergency Service were involved, as well as four volunteers and one fire truck.

Russian strikes on Odesa region
Recently, the Russians have begun to attack Ukraine more frequently, including Odesa and the surrounding region. Russia uses various types of drones and missiles for these attacks.
On the night of October 8, the Russians attacked the Odesa region with drones, damaging administrative buildings and utility rooms.
"At night, Russia struck the Odesa region with drones. The windows of an administrative building of a civilian infrastructure facility and a utility building were damaged," wrote Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration.
A fire also broke out, which was quickly extinguished by rescuers.
