On Monday, October 5, Russians struck a high-rise building in Berdychiv with a drone; apartments on several floors were damaged, according to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration.

"On Monday afternoon, Russia attacked a high-rise building in Berdychiv with a drone. The strike damaged apartments on floors 4 through 9," he says.

According to Bunechko, 17 pieces of equipment and 65 rescue workers were deployed to extinguish the fire, and the blaze was quickly contained.

The head of the Regional Military Administration adds that information regarding the injured and deceased is currently being verified. Rescue workers, medical personnel, psychologists, and special services are working at the site of the Russian strike.

On the evening of Sunday, October 4, the Russians struck apartment buildings in Kharkiv. One person is known to have been killed, and others wounded.

In addition, the New York Times reported that Russia was preparing the largest campaign of strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure since the war began. The Russians plan to launch up to 1,000 missiles, drones, and bombs at power plants, substations, and water supply facilities.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) states that Russia began this year's campaign of strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure earlier than usual.

Analysts note that the Kremlin may be attempting to inflict maximum damage in this way before Ukraine develops countermeasures.
