Russians once again attacked the Odesa region on the night of September 5. Border infrastructure was hit, according to the Izmail District State Administration.

"Russia carried out an airstrike on border infrastructure in the Izmail district. Due to the Russian attack, the Orlivka checkpoint has temporarily suspended operations," the report states.

The Izmail District State Administration's operational headquarters adds that further updates on the checkpoint's resumption of operations will be provided.

What else important to know

On the night of September 1, Russian forces also attacked the Orlivka checkpoint. Specifically, Russia struck the building and grounds of the checkpoint, causing fires. As a result, the facility temporarily suspended operations.

In Zakarpattia, preparations are underway to open a new border crossing point, Bila Tserkva–Sighetu Marmatiei. In particular, inspections to verify the infrastructure's readiness are already underway. The crossing is expected to open in 2027.
